South Simcoe Police Possession of a Controlled Substance On Friday January 26, 2007 South Simcoe Police were called to a local high school in Innisfil after teachers found a student smoking marihuana in a bathroom cubicle. A small quantity of marihuana was seized from behind the toilet. Police have charged a 16 year old Innisfil youth with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The youth was released from custody and he is scheduled to appear in Barrie Youth Court on March 6, 2007. The youth has also been suspended by the school. Domestic assault. On the 28th of January 2007, at approximately 7: 40 PM the South Simcoe Police Service received a 911 call for assistance to attend a residence in Churchill regarding a domestic dispute. Officers arrived an scene and investigated the domestic dispute resulting in a common law husband being arrested for pushing his ex common law partner. The accused a 41 year old Innisfil man was transported to the police station and later released on a promise to appear and an undertaking entered into before an officer in charge. Domestic Assault Arrest - Innisfil South Simcoe Police arrested a 43 year old Innisfil female in relation to an assault on her 50 year old husband at their Innisfil residence on January 27, 2007. The couple was involved in a verbal argument when the accused slapped her husband across the face. The husband trying to avoid further confrontation locked himself in a bedroom in the residence. The accused armed herself with a hammer and started to bang on the door in order to gain entry. The accused was arrested for Assault and later released to the custody of a friend. Mischief, Liquor Acts In the early morning hours of Tuesday January 30, 2007 police responded to a report of a vehicle stealing mail from mail boxes on a residential street in the Town of Innisfil. Police located the vehicle at a coffee shop and spoke to its occupants. The officers observed one of the females, a 16 year old from Alcona, was intoxicated. As a result, she was arrested and placed in the rear of the cruiser. While in the rear of the cruiser she became extremely violent and began to spit and kick the rear door, causing damage to the window bars on the cruiser. She was then taken to the police station to sober up for a while. She was released to her parents in the morning and faces several charges under the Liquor Licence Act as well as a Mischief charge for damaging the cruiser. A second female, age 15 from Innisfil, who was in the vehicle was also arrested for Breach of Undertaking as she was out past her curfew. She was released from custody and will appear in a Barrie Court to answer to the charge. MVC P.I. Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday January 29, 2007 at approximately 9:00 p.m. on the 5th Side Road of Innisfil. A Volkswagen Jetta was traveling Southbound on the 5th Side at the 5th Concession when it crossed the center line, left the roadway, sheered off a hydro pole, continued through some small trees and a wire fence, rolled a number of times and came to rest in a field. The driver, a 21 year old male from Innisfil, was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie with serious but non life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation. |
