The Barrie gas rages war on

Dear editor,

Two weeks ago I set up a Gas Lobby here in Barrie as myself and all the residents were fed up of being gouged at the gas pumps.

In the last week alone I've received over 600 hundred e-mails of support and another 200 signatures, this brings the total signatures to over 700, many members of the public have approached me telling me they are now and will be for the next seven days shop for gas outside Barrie.

I filled up in Thornton last weekend at 76 cents a litre it was 89.9 cents on Mapleview Drive, just a matter of 5-6 miles.

For this lobby to succeed I need all the help I can muster from you the people of Canada. Last week saw a meeting with the mayor of Barrie - this turned out to be a total waste of time - yes he signed the petition but made it clear there was nothing he could do to help me. Shame as he was elected by the people of this town to represent them.

When I have sufficient support and signatures I will present them to Government and ask for direct intervention to stop this obscene legalized Theft, if the same was applied to a litre of milk in any of the big Supermarkets the companies would be put out of business in next to no time.

Could you imagine the public reaction if the price of coffee changed 4 to 5 times a day in Tim Hortons?

Coffee is the second biggest commodity in the world but the price stays stable in the coffee houses, just imagine how you'd feel if it fluctuated like the price of gas, you'd stop going for Tim Hortons, StarBucks or where ever else you go. In fact the country would be in uproar, so why do we let the gas companies get away with it, because we do and they can, now is the time to put a stop to this gouging.

It's now time to stand up and fight, I need your support and help to do this. Together we will win.

As I have said before this is not aimed at the gas station owner but the gas companies that supply him or her, by all means carry on Buying your papers and other items there but NOT your gas.

On the Saturday 17th February I will be calling for an all out boycott of all Gas Stations across Ontario, just a one day boycott to start with but with enough people behind me the and the right media coverage perhaps I can bring a stop to the crazy yoyo effect we all experience.

Regards Rob Taylor
