Toronto Rocks the Innisfil Wolfpack
The Championship Banner has since been in two Santa Claus Parades the Championship Trophy presented at a school assembly and has traveled with every member of the Tyke team. In May the Banner will be hoisted at the first night of Wolfpack Rep lacrosse as a constant reminder for all the players, coaching staff and Executives on what a feat they accomplished in 2006. After all of the fan fare how could it get any better then that? On Saturday, February 3, 2007 at a Toronto ROCK home game and the Ontario Lacrosse Association "Night of Champions" - it got much better and thanks to the ROCK Public Relations Staff the Wolfpack Tyke players, coaches and two bus loads of Wolfpack fans journeyed down to the Air Canada Centre. The team was invited to scrimmage at the ACC before the Toronto ROCK game started. They ran their little hearts out, passing and hitting as if the whole world was watching. The players ran on the same floor as some of their heroes, while parents and Wolfpack fans cheered from the stands. That's why the boys were there - or so they thought. When you think that things just can't get any better - they do! Right before game time, the lights went low and one spot light shone on the door where the players' come out during player introductions. The Hot Rock cheerleaders were in a line leading to the door, shaking their pompoms in anticipation of the players being introduced. The announcer then did his welcoming address and started his introductions with; "And now the Tyke D Ontario Champions - The Innisfil Wolfpack". Amid 15,000+ cheering fans, out came the Team! The boys ran through the spotlight, past the Hot Rock Cheerleaders for all they were worth. They ran to the Toronto ROCK line and waited patiently for player introductions to start. The players to a man, ran down the line and highfived each Wolfpack player as they were introduced. The Wolfpack players and the Toronto ROCK players stood together for the National Anthem and I am sure there was more than one Wolfpack member with shivers watching them. The Ontario Lacrosse Association, ROCK Public Relations Department and the Players of the Toronto ROCK gave a group of children something that they will remember all of their lives, till they are old and gray, a story that they will tell their grandchildren. There are definitely some new ROCK fans in Innisfil and the entire Association would like to thank the OLA, the ROCK Public Relations Department and ROCK Players for memories that will last a lifetime. You all really do ROCK. |
