Cookstown Agricultural Society news The Society held it's Annual meeting at Church's Farm Supply on Friday Jan 19. The meeting was well attended as the new Board of Directors was chosen. The new executive is as follows: President - Bev Nix; 1st vice- Dorothy Lang; 2nd vice - William Vernon; Secretary/Treasurer - Wref Nix. It was a pleasure to add Doug Black to the Board, the son of past president Howard Black and active convener Beatrice Black. It is a pleasure to know that another generation is beginning in the Society and we look forward to more in the future. The past year for the Agricultural Society has been very rewarding in many ways. It expanded the youth involvement programme at the fair which has become the main highlight. It was an emotional night for the opening with remembrance of past years. The Society also supported the Soccer Club, Rambling Hills Riding Club, various dog shows as well as the Trailer Caravan. The most pleasurable night is also serving dinner to the 4-H members and the families as we listen to the achievements for the year. This next year will also hold changes which will be announced in the near future. As you know the Agricultural Societies around the communities are changing and Cookstown is also looking to the future. The theme this year is "FAMILY FUN" which says it all. Many thanks Bev for your report! |
