Stolen York Region Police uniforms On Saturday Feb. 17th 2007 at 7:56 a.m. a Break and Enter was discovered at a Dry Cleaners in Newmarket. The entry had occurred overnight. Entry was gained by smashing the rear bay door. Once inside, the cultprit(s) searched and ransacked the premise and removed numerous items including some electronic equipment. An undisclosed amount of money and clothing were also stolen. Among the stolen items were some York Regional Police officers uniforms. The uniforms stolen are described as follows: 1 York Regional Police men's black uniform shirt, 2 Pairs of men's York Regional Police cargo pants, 1 Men's York Regional Police tunic Anyone with information about this incident should contact police at 905-895-1221 extension 7141 or Crime Stoppers at 222-tips. If stopped by a York Regional Police Officer citizens should be aware that each situation is unique and the police officer will alter his or her approach to fit the circumstances. A York Regional Police Officer: When in uniform officers will provide his or her name and badge number upon request. If required they will produce a badge and identification card carrying their name, photograph which bears the signature of the Chief of Police. When officers are not in uniform they will present the same identification card and badge when dealing with members of the public. When in uniform, officers will wear epaulettes on their outer garmen which denotes their police identification number. |
