SSP Novice AE grab top spot in first round

The South Simcoe Police Association Novice AE Winterhawks will get a well deserved week off after finishing in top spot in their pool during first round York-Simcoe Playoff action. The AE Hawks played four action packed games and finished with a 2-1-1 record. The team rebounded from an opening game loss with hard work, grit and determination to get past playoff foes Aurora and TNT.

Like any successful playoff team, timely goals, solid defense and great goaltending have been the keys to their success. Opening game goals went to Will Ferguson and Conner Harfield, with help from Ryan Davies.

Game two saw the red light come on thanks to Mathew McDonald, Will Ferguson and Noah Wright. Noah' strong play earned him the "Hardest Work'n Hawk" Hard Hat.

The third game of the round was a thrilling 3-3 tie against the Aurora Tigers.

The Hawks line of Rayner, Heilemann and Couch was a force all game, contributing two goals to pace the offense. On the back end, Carson Gron stop three breakaways to keep his team in the game. Christopher Rayner was team's the "Hardest Work'n Hawk".

The final round robin game saw the Hawk's play one of their best games of the year. Will Ferguson stepped up with best playoff performance to lead the offense with two points, and earning the coveted hard hat award.

The crew of Kilpatrick, Ferguson, Kondrotas, Agnew, Watson, and Purcell played text book defense, holding the Tigers to one goal.
