RVH patient Unit gets the all clear A patient at Royal Victoria Hospital which had been closed to visitors has been given a clean bill of health by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. It's business as usual for the 40 bed unit 3-South-B which houses Complex Continuing Care patients. The unit is now open for visitations (2 - 8pm) which the usual two-visitor rule applying. Additionally, patients can be admitted and discharged from the unit again. During the outbreak, which was declared February 26th, 19 patients and staff members came down with gastrointestinal virus. This caused the unit to be closed to visitors, transfers and admissions until all patients and staff were symptom-free for 48 hours. RVH's outbreak measures were successful as this virus was contained and did not spread to other inpatient units. At this point, the virus has run its course and 3-South-B is symptom free. RVH wishes to thanks the public for adhering to the outbreak measures put in place to protect our patients, staff and visitors. |
