South Simcoe Police Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking/ Highway Traffic Act On Tuesday February 6th, 2007 in the Town of Innisfil at approx. 9:45 p.m. a South Simcoe Police Officer observed a motorist pass by him without his seat belt on. The officer pulled him over and questioned him about not wearing his seatbelt. The driver appeared agitated and gave a fictitious name and when asked his date of birth (DOB) he advised he couldn't remember it. The officer could detect a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer asked the male to step out of his vehicle. The officer asked the driver and lone occupant if he had marijuana in the vehicle. The male advised that there was some on the passenger seat. When the officer looked in at the passenger seat he could see in plane view two very large clear plastic bags of a leafy substance. The male was arrested for obstruct police officer and possession for the purpose of trafficking. What surprised the officer next was the clear package sitting beside the marijuana. The officer also confiscated almost 2 kilo's of cocaine. A 26 year old Alcona man has been arrested and charged with numerous trafficking along with many highway traffic act offences. Assault with a weapon, assault police, utter death threats,obstruction of justice and mischief. On the 9th of March at 12:31 PM while on general patrol, Police were flagged down on Barrie Street in the Town of Bradford by the victim and his girlfriend. Police were advised at this time that moments before a suspect had pulled a knife on the victim. The victim stated that he was standing on Barrie Street with his girlfriend waiting for her to catch a bus. While waiting the suspect came around the corner of John Street East onto Barrie Street, walking his pit bull. The suspect was wearing the victim's jacket which was stolen approx one month earlier. The suspect approached the victim and threatened him with a knife. Officers commenced an investigation resulting in the arrest of a second suspect who was trying to intimidate the victim. The second suspect a 26 year old Bradford man was arrested at 7:30 PM and transported to the south division. The second suspect was charged with the offences listed above and held for bail hearing. The first suspect a 21 year old Bradford man is known to police and an arrest warrant will be issued. Structure fire 20th Side Road Town of Innisfil On the 9th of March , at 12:33 PM an employee of Bell Canada was in the area just completing a service call when he was driving south on the 20th Sideroad. He observed smoke billowing from a residence. He immediately pulled into the driveway and approached the home. He knew there were people inside due to the vehicles parked in the driveway. He banged on the door and got the homeowners attention. With his assistance, all managed to escape without injury and fled to the vehicles parked in the driveway. The citizen is a volunteer fireman with the Beeton Fire Dept and knew that he shouldn't attempt to fight the fire without the proper equipment or personnel. Once the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that objects stored beside the wood burning stove in the garage had slowly melted and ignited causing the damage. Due to the observations and quick thinking of a citizen, the lives of 4 children (all under 7) and two mothers, along with the family pet, were saved. The home sustained minor smoke and water damage and the garage sustained heavy smoke, water, and fire damage. Est. at $25,000 damage. Bail violation On March 12th, at approximately 4:00 PM South Simcoe Police Service received a call for assistance to advise officers that her daughters ex-boyfriend has been in violation of his bail conditions. South Simcoe Police commenced an investigation with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and learned that the 23 year old ex-boyfriend had broken into the victims Bradford residence the night before. The 18 year old victim informed officers of an ongoing situation involving bail violations. Further investigation to follow along with an arrest warrant to be issued for the 23 year old boyfriend. |
