Big Brothers, Sisters needs community help Right now your local Big Brothers Big Sisters is in need of help from our community in several ways. We are in desperate need of some volunteers (both as mentors and as Board members) and we need financial help. Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Simcoe is not funded by the United Way or any level of government. All funding comes directly from our community. The main fundraiser is Bowl for Kids Sake (Mar. 17 - 25). You can bowl, pledge your financial support for a bowler, or donate directly to BBBSSS. Join the fun by getting 5 or 6 people to form a bowling team then register online (www.bbbs southsimcoe.org) or by phone (905-936-9788) to bowl at Pins & Q's Bowling Alley, 294 Victoria St. E. in Alliston between Saturday March 17 and Sunday March 25. Currently, there are openings for several Board Members (preferably from a variety of backgrounds from all areas of South Simcoe). There are 12 boys waiting right now for Big Brothers. Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and In-School Mentors are always needed (volunteer either one hour or a few hours a week to make a difference in the life of a child) -- but immediately a dozen fun-loving men of any age, from any walk of life, are needed desperately by these boys (some have been waiting over a year). Could you spare a few hours to befriend a child in need? Being a Big Brother can be a magical experience! BBBSSS would like to publicly thank our recent sponsors: Base Borden, Honda, Loose Moose Magic Village, New Tec Fire Department, Nottawasaga Inn, Nottawasaga Foundation, OPP, PBB Global Logistics, Silver Brooke Golf Club, and in Alliston: Canadian Tire, Dollarama, Giant Tiger, McDonald's, Pins & Q's, Pizza Hut, Red Pine Inn & Sobey's: and in Tottenham: Christ Church, Dairy Queen, Home Hardware, IGA, M & B Computers, Pizza Pizza, Price Chopper & Subway. We appreciate our wonderful supportive community! You can get more information about Big Brothers Big Sisters (or make a donation) at www.bbbssouthsimcoe.org or at (905) 936-9788. |
