Parking boats on property should be allowed Dear editor, I am a little concerned with the article regarding "Residents may soon have to find other parking arrangements" When will it stop! When does your home and property become YOUR HOME and PROPERTY! I understand you cannot run a junk yard in town or used car lot on your front lawn. But if the boat or trailer is licensed to the property owner then leave them alone. Most boats are brought home because they cannot afford winter storage. Is the town willing to pay for all the storage for all these boats, trailers and RV's? If not, then why do you think they store them on their property, either they have room or cannot afford the extra expense. It is getting very costly even to own these toys, after insurance, gasoline, diesel, summarizing and winterizing, unexpected repairs and now you want to put storage on top of it. As for bus drivers, It will take longer for them to prepare for their routes. They will now have to clean off their own vehicles. Drive to a crowded bus yard, find a parking spot that is now full of buses that are no longer in driveways, clean and warm up the bus. They have to do their full safety check prior to using the bus. Bus companies prefer if drivers can take the buses out of the yard and the drivers that do not have the room to take a bus home and spare buses only stay at the yard. As for the dump truck driver, who said they have no place to put their truck. Not all of them own their trucks. They can leave them in the company yard. I am more sympathetic to the real tractor tractor trailer driver who owns his truck and has to bring his rig home between runs waiting for the trailer to be loaded or unloaded, or to catch some sleep or even just to see his family for an hour or two before he has to go out again. Why doesn't the town look at properties that are "Junk yards" before harassing people for parking on their own property. D. Bokan - Lefroy |
