Accountability starts at the top
Dear editor,

Re: March 7/07 Letter by Sharon Posius

I agree with Sharon Posius' letter to Mayor jackson in regards to the 11.8% tax increase. I too would like to know what happened to the millions that is given to the town by Georgian Downs and the casino. I like to know where the justification is in the 8% tax increase last year and another 11.8% this year which makes almost 20% tax increase in two years. There is no excuse for it.

Large business' and corporations tend to down size when money is a problem. Why can't the town? Quotas can be down sized, so can staff in the administration building and works department. There is no excuse for hiring staff for a recreation centre that has not yet been constructed.

Accountability needs to be imposed to all who have a trusted position in the town starting with the mayor and councillors.
