Thornton Novice 2 does well in Niagara tourney

Niagara on the Lake Tournament

Wednesday March 14, 2007-Novice 2 attended the Niagara on the Lake House League tournament and won Gold. Thornton played the first game against Stoney Creek on Monday and lost 3-1. Thornton scored the one goal in the first period with goal by Aidan Didomenico. Thornton then played one of the home teams, NOTL1, with a shut out.

Thornton won 2-0 with goals by Matthew Pyz and Dylan Scuccimari. Thornton had one more game that they needed to win by at least 11 goals to make the semi finals.

Thornton played Oshawa and won 14-0. Brian Escott scored 5 goals, D. Scuccimari scored 3, M. Pyz scored 2, and single goals by Gavin Bayley, Christopher Johnson, Nick McMath and first goal of the year for Conor Wiltshire. In the Semi Final game against Alliston TNT, Thornton won the game 4-1. B. Escott scored a hatrick and M. Pyz scored one goal. Thornton played West London for the championships on Wednesday and were pumped.

West London took the lead with one goal throughout the whole game until 1:37 left in the 3rd period when Ben Ware scored a goal. Overtime looked imminent but with 26 seconds left D. Scuccimari scored the winning goal for Thornton.

Excellent team work by everyone and a great season end for Thornton Novice 2.
