RCL Branch 547 - Karaoke Night
by Linda Gerow

Karaoke is alive and well at Branch 547 of the Belle Ewart Legion on Robinson Street. Every Friday evening, for the next three weeks, competition continues in two classes; under 60 and over 60. Last Friday evening I was one of three judges enjoying all the singers who came out to entertain, and join the rest of those in attendance to support this fun event. Our MC is a terrific guy named Bob Wilkinson who treats the crowd to songs made popular by Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong and Al Jolson. Bob also tells the best jokes ever! Registration starts at 8:30 p.m. and the competition begins at 9:00 p.m. Each contestant sings two songs and the judges retire to tally up the scores. A winner from each of the two categories returns to sing in the final competition, when the winners are crowned. The prizes are terrific, totaling $1000. Why not come out on Friday evening and see for yourself. Winners on March 23rd were Joan Arnold and Gary Diceman. For all information give the legion a call at 456-2531.
