During Easter week at St. Peter's Anglican Church/Churchill. Pam Gervais, the youth coordinator and her helper, Shelley Meyers, along with the youth, recreated the Last Supper at their meeting on Thursday, April 5th. Although a little short of 'disciples', it was an excellent way to show the youth about Jesus' journey to the cross.

Old man winter just won't let go will he. I really thought he was a goner about two weeks ago when we had those beautiful temperatures, but no...he had to rear his snowy head just a few more times. While tulips, crocuses and lilies began to poke their heads up through the ground, another dumping of snow came our way and covered them up again. With the Communities in Bloom gala about to take place on April 26th, let hope that Mother Nature can wave her magic wand and give us some nice sunny weather. I've about had it.

Junior Youth Group: Parish of St. Peter's and St. John's (St. PJ's) hold their weekly meetings at St. Peter's Anglican church in Churchill from 6:30-8:00 p.m. each week. All youth aged 9-13 are welcome to join. Call Pam at 705-735- 3484 for information.

Senior Youth Group (ages 13-18) meet every second Sunday at St. John's Anglican church in Cookstown for lunch and bible study at 1:00 p.m. All high school aged youth are welcome to join. Please call Pam at the above number for all information and meeting dates.

The Youth Groups are planning an upcoming retreat the end of May to Camp Couchiching. All youth aged 9-18 are welcome to attend this fun and faith filled weekend. Fundraising will help to cover the costs. Ask Pam about all the details.

Euchre: Euchre is held every Wednesday afternoon at St. Peter's Anglican church parish hall beginning at 1:00 p.m. Call Reg at 705-456-6801 for information. All proceeds go to the church Building Fund.

The Gilford and District Horticultural Society hold their meetings from March to November each year at the Churchill Community Centre. The meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. and there is often a guest speaker. Friends and guests are most welcome. Branch 547 Lefroy Belle Ewart Legion News: Karaoke is back for five weeks of singing every Friday evening. Prizes total $1,000. Registration is 8:30 p.m. with the contest starting at 9 p.m. There will be Karaoke on Friday, April 20th but it is cancelled the following Friday on April 20th, resuming on April 27th for the final evening. Come on out and support this great fun event!

Monday night darts begin at 7 p.m. and last about 3 hours. You don't have to be a member to join in the fun.

Thursday Euchre continues from 1 p.m. There is regular and bid Euchre, followed by snacks.

Saturday Meat Draws: Come out Saturday afternoons and get in on the meat draw. Everyone is welcome. There are good cuts of meat! You can't win if you don't enter. This is lots of fun so see you there.

Attention Veterans: The Legion Service Officer is coming to the branch April 26th. Please call Jack at 458-1966 for an appointment. It is all strictly confidential. He can discuss VIP, Pension adjustments or whatever else you may wish to talk about. Good things can happen.

Roast Pork Dinner: If you haven't had one of these famous Legion dinners, you don't know what you're missing. Come on out on Sunday, April 15th when there will be roast pork and all the trimmings to go with it. Book early...don't be disappointed. The Churchill Curling Club is holding a fundraising auction at the Grange Hall in Lefroy Saturday, April 21st. Viewing starts at 10:30 a.m. and the bidding starts at 11 a.m. Donations of 'gently used' or new items for the event are being accepted. Refreshments will be available.

Ham and Scallop Potato Supper: St. Peter's Anglican Church is having a ham and scallop potato supper on Thursday, April 26th, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. All tickets are $10. Don't miss out on this scrumptious meal.

Musical Evening: The St. Peter's Anglican church choir is planning a musical evening on Sunday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m. There will be traditional, contemporary and old favourites presented. Everyone is welcome to attend. Donations only. For more information, call 705-436- 9769.

Strawberry Supper: St. Peter's Anglican Church is hosting its annual Strawberry Supper on Thursday, June 21st from 5- 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. More details to follow. For information, call Maggie at 705-456-7293.

Car Trunk Sale: Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 9th for the car trunk sale from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Churchill Community Centre parking lot. The cost to vendors is $25.00 per car/truck and shoppers get 'free admission'.

Also available is a delicious all day BBQ and a silent auction of some amazing articles. What you don't sell, you close the trunk and away you go! Contact Dean Williamson at 456-2202 and book your space early.

It was wonderful to see our friend Marie Ward, back at St. Peter's for the Easter Sunday service. It's always great having her with us and being able to share this special season with her. Continued good health, Marie.

We also had two very special visitors with us on Easter. Sarah and Luke Butler made their first appearance since their birth, along with Mom and Dad, Robert and Jay and big brothers, Isaac and James. Also in attendance were proud grandparents Percy and Sadie Butler and Jay's very proud Mom. It's great having you all with us again.

A safe journey is extended to Bev and Bruce Kidd and their friends as they leave for a week in Williamsburg. We'll miss you.

Smile: A group of chess players were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse."But why?", they asked, as they moved off. "Because," he said, "I can't stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer."
