Criminal Harassment

A 36 year old Innisfil man was arrested and charged with Criminal Harassment. The victim and accused are not known to each other. The alleged incidences occurred over a 2 year period. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Counterfeit Currency

South Simcoe received a call about a suspected counterfeit twenty dollar Canadian bill that was received by a local business in Innisfil. It is not known where the bill came from.

Domestic Dispute

A 21 year old Innisfil man is facing charges of Assault and Mischief Under $5,000 following a Domestic Dispute at an Innisfil residence on Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:00pm.

South Simcoe Police report the man became involved in a heated argument with his exgirlfriend. The women went into her bedroom and locked the door behind her in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. The accused proceeded to force his way into the bedroom. Once inside, he pushed the victim to the ground and kicked her repeatedly.

The suspect then fled the scene in his car, but was caught a short distance later by officers responding to the 911 call. He was arrested and transported to the North Division. He will be appearing in Bradford Provincial Court on May 10th, 2007.

Excessive Speed

A 17 year old Innisfil teen is facing a fine of $359.00 after he was caught speeding by a traffic officer on Killarney Beach Road on Thursday night. Police report the man was travelling eastbound on Killarney Beach Road in the Village of Lefroy when the officer clocked him in radar at 99km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

12hr Licence Suspension

A traffic officer was surprised while on patrol Thursday afternoon when a 30 year old Innisfil man decided to pull out and pass his marked police cruiser on the 20th Side Road of Innisfil. The officer activated his moving radar unit as the car passed him and measured a speed of 123 km/h in an 80 km/h. When the officer pulled the car over, he detected an odour of alcohol on the drivers breath.

The man was given a roadside screening test and registered a "warning". His drivers licence was suspended immediately and his vehicle impounded. He is also facing a $323.00 for speeding past the police car.

Break & Enter

The South Simcoe Police Service is seeking public assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspect(s) responsible for breaking into the Cookstown Fire Station sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Police report that unknown suspect(s) used a screwdriver to force their way into the rear door of the Fire Hall which is located on Simcoe County Road # 27, just north of Highway # 89 in the Town of Innisfil. Once inside the building, a metal safe was forced open and a small quantity of cash was taken.

R.I.D.E

Officers from the South Simcoe Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. program on Disette Street in the Town of Bradford on Thursday night. In excess of 200 vehicles were stopped by officers during the spot-check and police are pleased to report that they did not investigate any of the drivers for drinking and driving related offences.

With four Canadians being killed each and every day, Impaired Driving continues to be the leading criminal cause of death in this country. The South Simcoe Police Service is committed to the fight against Impaired Driving and will be conducting enhanced R.I.D.E. checks over the Easter weekend to help keep our roadways safe.

Personation of a Police Officer

A 29-year old Newmarket man has been charged with Personating a Police Officer following an incident, which occurred at a licenced premise in Bradford early Saturday morning.

South Simcoe Police report the man arrived at the bar shortly after 1:00am and found a long line-up to get inside.

Instead of waiting, he made his way to the front of the line and identified himself as an undercover York Regional Police officer.

The bouncer refused to let the man in because he was too intoxicated and alerted two South Simcoe Police officers who were conducting a foot patrol inside the bar. When police spoke to the man, it was quickly determined that he was not a police officer.

He was arrested and transported back to South Division in Bradford for processing. He was released later in the morning once he sobered up and will be appearing in Bradford Provincial Court on May 3rd.

Domestic Assault

On Sun. April 8, 2007 at approximately 2:35a.m. South Simcoe Police attended an address on Lockhart Road in the Town of Innisfil regarding a domestic disturbance. Police have charged a 56 year old Innisfil male with Assault and two counts of Uttering Threats. The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing later this date.

Impaired Care & Control/Refuse Intoxilyzer

On Sat. April 7, at approximately 11:35p.m. South Simcoe Police received information regarding a possible impaired driver leaving the area of Spring St in the Town of Innisfil. Police located the vehicle on Innisfil Beach Rd and the driver was arrested for impaired care and control. The driver was transported to the police station where he refused to provide samples of his breath. Police have charged a 29 year old Keswick male with Impaired Care & Control and Refuse Breathalyzer.

Possession of Stolen Property

On Sunday April 8, at approximately 10:32p.m. South Simcoe Police investigated three youths standing near a broken down vehicle that was parked in a parking lot on Holland Street West in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. The vehicle was found to have licence plates affixed that were stolen from a similar type of vehicle. One of the males admitted to ownership of the vehicle and he was arrested. Police have charged a 17 year old Toronto youth with Possession of Stolen Property. The youth has been detained in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision with Pedestrian

South Simcoe Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Lloyd Street, Stroud at approximately 1:15 PM Monday April 9, 2007. The pedestrian, a 10 year old male, was struck by a vehicle and taken to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie with non-life threatening injuries. The Collision is still under investigation.
