All concerned should be at May 9th meeting
Dear editor:

It is great to see that so many people are against the new by-law. There has been a school bus parked in my mothers driveway for at least 35 years, providing the service of getting children to school safely each and every day. Have the people who agree to this proposed by-law stopped for a minute and considered how the children will get to school if this by-law passes. We as bus drivers are classified as professional drivers, yet please be advised we do not make the big bucks associated with such a title. Those of us who live in Innisfil operate for a company located outside of our town. We could not financially continue with being employed as bus drivers as to travel up to 4 trips a day to the company yard would leave us financially broke.

I do understand the towns concerns with appearances. Granted there are many properties in the town where you cant see the home for the garbage, as well as vehicles of all types that are taking up space due to no longer being fit for the roads. The owners of these properties should be held accountable to keeping their yards clean and for disposing of such vehicles that are an eye sore as well as not good for the environment. To go a step further this should also be the case for farmers. Some farmers in the area store other residents property, which is fine with me as long as its not dumped in their front yards. Some farmers also have machines sitting out in their fields that are no longer good for use. All property owners need to be responsible which also includes farmers since most of the 100 square miles of Innisfil is farm land.

If the Mayor is concerned about the appearance this should also include roads. Recently on A Channel they showed Westmount Ave in Alcona, and the statement was made that it would be patched. Granted it was, but lets be honest this road is beyond patching. I go along this road daily on my bus, yet never in my car the repairs could become costly to my vehicle.

In response to C. Walker whose letter was in the paper last week regarding who started this proposed by-law and when the meeting is. From what I've been told this problem arises due to residents who cant get along with their neighbours. Perhaps its time for our Mayor to make it clear to these people to solve the problem themselves, such as ignoring your neighbour, calling the police or seeking legal advise. The residents of Innisfil should not have to worry about their right to be employed (losing their jobs) or having recreational vehicles just for one person to be one up on the other. This government is not and should not be used for solving peoples personal problems. Secondly the latest is that the meeting is to be on May 9, 2007 at the town office, at 7:00pm arrive early!

I hope that all Bus drivers, dump truck driver etc; show up at this meeting even if were in the driveway, perhaps it will end this problem once and for all.

Sincerely, C. Griffith
