Resident not happy with Big Bay Point Resort plans
Dear editor:

I half support the Big Bay Point Resort, ONLY because it has been shrunk down to a fairly reasonable size with the last suggestions.

But after looking at the picture drawn for the public in the papers, it shows a man-made bay with a least 3 islands with a number of houses on them. This supposedly was in the planning before, or did that get arranged when the meetings were held in Markham?? So now they want to dig a bay where the marina is??

Why would you have a road running from the Big Bay Point Road to the 13th Concession? There WAS A PROMISE that the construction trucks, etc., would NOT be driving down the 14th Concession, otherwise known as Big Bay Point Rd., into the Marina Entrance. There would be a road from the area of the 13th Concession and 25th sideroad down through the property to the Marina. When was that changed? That would be a big increase in traffic, along with all the dust, dirt, and noise that the residents on Big Bay Point Road would have to put up with, especially in the Rockaway Beach area.

The road would be full of pot holes, and seeing that this is the only road in or out of Big Bay Point, and our cars would be bearing the brunt of the damage. Do we send the repair bills to you Mr. Rumm?

But you will probably be gone with the money when you sell the land.

The well paying jobs would only be here while the construction is taking place, and would those construction workers be guaranteed to be residents from the local area, or would they be imported from Toronto.

The over 1000 jobs that might be permanent will be low paying - our children can be trained to be waitress, waiters, cleaners and gardeners. WOW!!

I love the full page ad that Mr. Rumm put in the paper, thanking every one for their support.

You need to reword that ad, not all the people that live here in the Big Bay Point area want your resort.

Sincerely, Queenie Little, Big Bay Point resident.
