Over expenditure on expanded asphalt tender
by Michelle Minnoch

The town has awarded the 2007 Expanded Asphalt Capital Road Tender to Harnden and King Construction for $533,607.40, an over expenditure of $37,681.40.

The request was to fund the over expense from the ARS (Alternative Revenue Source).

The hard Surfacing and Surface Treatment contracts all came in under budget.

"Why are we taking the funds from the ARS when we have a surplus in other areas," inquired Mayor Brian Jackson.

Treasurer Ian Goodfellow with all other projects, funds are returned to their source. This project is funded through the gas tax and ARS revenue.

"If the money is not needed, it goes back to the source," said Goodfellow. "Mostly likely, that is the ARS."
