Condolences to Camilla Selby and family on the passing of Camilla's mother, Marion Mitchell. Our thoughts are with you.

Wasn't it a delightful weekend? It was great to be able to enjoy our first dinner on the deck, have a chat over the fence with neighbours and see so many families out enjoying a walk together and perhaps a stop for ice cream. Let's hope that winter's finally over.

A yard sale will be held on May 18 & 19 at Charlie's vacant lot on Barrie Street in support of the Thornton Library. Donations of good used items would be appreciated, so if you're thinking about cleaning out the garage or basement, now is the time to do it. Call Willie at 458-9290 for more information or to make a donation.

Darryl Wines will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Essa Historical Society on Saturday, April 28. Darryl will be speaking about preserving artifacts. The meeting will be held at the Thornton Library starting at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome. For more information call Olive at 458-9971.

The Thornton Library reopened on Monday after being closed for renovations for two weeks. The staff and many volunteers worked countless hours removing a wall, painting, cleaning, washing windows, moving books and shelving to get it ready for the public again. The official reopening will be held May 5th.
