It's Pitch-in Day this Saturday
by Michelle Minnoch

This Saturday is the annual Pitch-in Day and the committee held their last meeting on Monday night to finalize details for Saturday.

Residents are asked to sign in at their local fire hall on Saturday morning by 9am. Tim Hortons will be supplying coffee and donuts to the stations, and residents can get their morning fuel before heading out.

At the fire hall, residents will receive bags, gloves and safety instructions. Students who need some community service hours can bank three for the day - they need to sign in (and out) with a local fire fighter.

At noon, participants are asked to head over to the Churchill Community Centre where the Friends of the Library will be cooking lunch for all those who helped in the event.

This week, various schools are pitching in themselves during the day. Over 2400 students will be out and about cleaning up the community. Watch for students when traveling in school areas and slow down.

Many community groups have also signed up, including the Alcona Girl Guides, Scouts, Cubs, ATV Club, IDA, Girls on the Run, and many more.

The South Simcoe Police and Innisfil Fire Fighters will be out on Saturday, ensuring road safety.

There have been many businesses within the town who are donating for the annual event. Without their donations, the event would not be as successful as it has been.

The Pitch in Committee is also looking for more donations of gloves and bags.

If you can help out, please contact Kim Creamer at (705) 436-3710 or email pitch-in@innisfil.ca.
