Youths tossing garbage

Essa Twp - Nottawasaga OPP received a complaint on Friday regarding youths taking bags of garbage from the end of driveways at residences in Essa Twp along Marshall Cres. sometime overnight between the Friday and Saturday. The culprits were either dumping the garbage on the roadway or leaving it intact on the road and it was hit by a motor vehicle leaving the same "messy" result.

Apparently, this was a common incident last summer in this area as well. There are no suspects identified at this time. This type of activity constitutes Mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. It also becomes a Ministry of the Environment issue as well.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed any incidents described above where no suspects have been identified or where an investigation is continuing or anyone who has any information regarding these incidents, to contact Nottawasaga OPP at 905-729-4004 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous and does not subscribe to call display. You will not testify in court and you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2000.

Another impaired removed from the road

Essa Twp - On Friday at 11:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP arrested an Angus man for impaired driving on Vernon St. in Angus.

The 42-year-old man was operating a Chevrolet pick up truck when he was stopped by police and arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to Beeton OPP Detachment for breath tests where he provided breath samples that resulted in almost two times the legal limit.

Charged for impaired driving and over 80 is Christopher McGill. He is to appear in court in Bradford in May to answer to the charges.

Family heirlooms taken in B&E

Essa Twp - On Sunday around 9 p.m. Nottawasaga OPP received a complaint of a break and enter on Summerset Place in Angus, that occurred during daylight hours of that same day and family heirlooms were taken.

The complainant returned home around 7 p.m. to find a screen removed from a window. Upon entering the residence, and checking contents it was discovered that some jewelery (two engagement rings and three wedding bands) was missing in addition to a Nintendo RDS system and two games.
