Cookstown Sparks and Brownies
by Susan Stein

It was a great event for Cookstown Sparks and Brownies on Tuesday, May 1st, the date the Advancement Ceremony was held at the Cookstown United Church Hall.

Flying up to Brownies were Sparks: Sasha Crosby, Jade Slaughter and Jaden Ellis.

Brownies flying up to Guides were: Baylee Smith, Carley Slaughter, Kristina Robinson and Sarah Hunse.

Sparks were welcomed to Brownies with their leader Tracey Ellis presenting them with pins and the Certificate for Advancement. Leader Tammy Smith had the pleasure to present the Advancement Certificates and pins to the Brownies.

Helen Gilbert presented the Western Hemisphere badge to Brownies, earned on a camping trip.

The Ceremony opened with the Sparks and Brownies given their Promise and singing their song.

Refreshments and the lighting of camp fire concluded the evening.

Congratulations girls and many thanks to the leaders and mother helpers for their dedication to the Canadian Guide Movement.
