Assault investigation requires public assistance (Town of New Tecumseth, ON) On April 26th 2007, around 7:30 p.m. Nottawasaga OPP received a report of an alleged assault where a local male was riding his bike south on King Street south in the village of Alliston when another local male known to the victim emerged from a motor vehicle and swung a weapon at the cyclist nearly striking him. The victim was able to flee on his bike. The suspect got back inside the vehicle and it followed the cyclist where the female driving the vehicle allegedly attempted to run over the cyclist. The investigation to date has learned that the two males indeed had an altercation in the restaurant on Young Street while dining where the suspect attempted to provoke a fight. The complainant left the premise separately on his bike. The victim advised Police that several motor vehicles had passed by the scene on King Street during the assault involving the weapon. The weapon that the suspect produced and swung at the victim was described to be a "machete" knife type of weapon. The suspect's vehicle was a 1996 White Pontiac. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed any incidents described above where no suspects have been identified or where an investigation is continuing or anyone who has any information regarding these incidents, to contact Nottawasaga OPP at 905-729-4004 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
