South Simcoe Police Breach/Intoxicated Public Place On Tuesday, May 1st, at approx. 3:30 p.m. South Simcoe Police were contacted advising that there was a male staggering on the 25th Sideroad in Alcona. He was walking in and out of traffic. Citizens were afraid the male might cause an accident or get struck by a vehicle. Police attended and located a 44 year old Barrie resident leaning up against a wooden post close to the roadway. The male was found to be in an intoxicated state. He was arrested for his own safety. A check on the male revealed that he was out on conditions not to consume alcohol. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing the next morning. Speeding On Tuesday, May 2nd at approx. 0018 hrs a South Simcoe Police officer was operating a radar unit in Cookstown in the town of Innisfil. The officer observed a Black Chev Cobalt motor vehicle speeding. The driver was pulled over and charged with travelling 44 Kilometers over the speed limit. At approx. 0036 hrs the same officer was operating Radar in Bond Head in the Town of Bradford WestGwillumbury when he observed the same vehicle travelling at a rate of speed which was 42 Kilometers over the speed limit. The same driver a 33 year old Nobleton resident was given his second Provincial Offences ticket within an 18 minute time frame. Stolen ATV/Break Enter and Theft On Wednesday, May 2nd between the hours of 0100 and 0200 hrs an Innisfil business was broken into on Innisfil Beach Rd. The culprit(s) removed an ATV and a Mini Z ski-doo. The culprit(s) entered a door that was left unlocked at the time. Once inside they loaded up what appeared to be a pick-up truck with the two Machines. They exited through the main doors of the garage. It appears that the load was not secured properly because the Mini Z ski-doo was located in the middle of the road a short distance away from the business. Still outstanding is a 2000 honda 400 cc, yellow in colour. The plate # is TA448 and the VIN # is 478TE2267Y4105174. The approx. value is $12,000.00. Anyone with information about this occurrence is asked to contact the South Simcoe Police Service or call your local Crime Stoppers. Arrest - Fail to Appear - Weapons Charge - Drive while suspended On May 3, at approximately 2:45 PM a South Simcoe Police officer investigted a vehicle and driver following a traffic stop. The officer found that the 46 year old Barrie man was driving while his licence was suspended, had in his possession a switch blade which is a probibited weapon, and was wanted by Barrie Police for Failing to Appear in Family Court. Male was served Notice of his Drivers Licence Suspension, Charged with Possession of a Probhibed Weapon, and later released to Barrie Police who executed the Family Court warrant they held. Intoxicated Male - Bradford South Simcoe Police arrested a 20 year old Bradford male for Intoxicated in a Public Place when he was found staggering down Holland Street in Bradford at approximately 3:00 AM May 5th, 2007. Male had previously been spoken to twice by police and warned he should go home with his friends and sleep it off. Male spent the night in the cells and was released when sober. Break and Enter Business - Innisfil South Simcoe Police are investigating a Break-in to a west Innisfil business on County Road 27 in Cookstown. Sometime overnight May 03/04, 2007 persons entered the business and pried open a small wall mount safe and stole several hundred dollars in cash. Arson On May 5, at approximately 8:26 p.m. The South Simcoe Police and Bradford Fire Department were called to an apartment fire at a Holland Street East address in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Upon arrival, the apartment was found to be fully engulfed by fire. As a result of an investigation it was discovered that the occupants of the apartment had been involved in several altercations with another male at their residence and at a local bar just a short time before the fire. At the time of the fire, the occupants were not home. Police have arrested and charged a 52 year old Bradford male with Arson, Break and Enter, Assault and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing on May 6th. One of the apartment occupants, a 48 year old Bradford male, was charged with Assault and released from custody. The building in question received extensive smoke and fire damage. The investigation into this incident continues. Impaired Driving On May 6, at approximately 12:02 a.m. an officer from the South Simcoe Police was traveling E/B on Innisfil Beach Road in the Town of Innisfil when he was almost cut off by a W/B black Pontiac Sunfire who turned left in front of him into a parking lot. The officer approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 27 year old Innisfil male, who was found to be impaired. The driver was arrested and taken to the police station where he provided two breath tests that were 3 times the legal limit.
He was charged with Impaired Driving and over 80 mgs, issued a 90 day licence suspension, and held until sober. He will appear in a Bradford court in June. |
