Innisfil's Steve Banks could hardly believe his luck

He was headed to work with his brothers, Mike and Joe, when they decided to stop for a coffee. It was the familiar place where you can win prizes by rolling up the rim on your cup.

Steve had won the odd coffee before, even a doughnut. But nothing more than that.

One of his brothers rolled up the rim on his coffee and bingo - he won a free coffee.

"He started gloating and everything, about how he'd won a coffee," Banks said laughing. Then Banks started to roll up his rim and "freaked" when he saw he had just won a Toyota Camery Hybrid.

"I just started screaming, 'I won a car, I won a car', Banks said. "I think my brothers were pleased but a little disappointed because there was a one in three chance they could have won." Banks promised to let his brothers take the $41,000 vehicle for 'a spin'.

"Having a grand prize winner at our store creates a lot of excitement," said Doug Weber, Tim Hortons Store Owner. "People are happy when they win a donut or a coffee, so you can imagine how thrilling it is when a customer becomes the proud owner of a vehicle or other grand prize! It's a wonderful way to reward our loyal customers.

During the contest, customers who buy a medium, large or extra large hot beverage at Tim Hortons get a chance to win one of over 30 million available prizes. This year's prizes include 30 Toyota Camery Hybrid, 100 Panasonic Plasma Televisions, 500 cash prizes of $1,000, 10,000 iPod nano Digital Music Players and over 30 million food prizes!

The Roll Up The Rim To Win contest runs while cup supplies last. Prizes may be claimed until May 27th, 2007. (Tim Hortons Store owners Doug and Cheryl Weber congratulate Steve and his wife Linda and son Kyle. photo by Michelle Minnoch)
