Town reaches agreement with other municipalities
by Michelle Minnoch

The Town of Innisfil is entering into an emergency assistance agreement with the Town's of Bradford West Gwillimbury, New Tecumseth and the Township's of Essa and Adjala-Tosorontio to provide mutual aid in the areas of personnel services, equipment or materials when and emergency arises.

"I am glad to see this come forward," remarked Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope, referring to the snowstorm in March in which many municipalities had stretched resources due to the conditions.

Report CS-05-07 was brought forward to Committee in March after the CAO of Adjala- Tosorontio stated they would like to be part of the agreement between the municipalities after an agreement was reached between Innisfil, Essa, New Tecumseth and BWG. The report states the 'agreement is for the parties to provide mutual aid and assistance through the provision of personnel, services, equipment or material to one or the other within the meaning of the Emergency Management Act'.

"This has been in the works for a few months," said the deputy mayor.

The new agreement has no financial impact for the town.
