Gilford hosts walk to support Guide Dogs this Sunday Gilford & District Lions Clubs are hosting the Purina Walk for Dog Guides, a fundraising event set to raise money for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. The event will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2007 starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilford Community Hall. All ages and fitness levels are welcome to attend the event with or without a dog. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Walk go directly towards funding Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide programs. Please volunteer a little of your time and help raise money for Dog Guides. Lions Foundation of Canada receives no government funding and provides Dog Guides at no cost to Canadians with physical disabilities. For more information or to register for the Walk please visit www.purinawalk fordogguides.com. About the Foundation: Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a federally incorporated charitable foundation. Its mission is to provide service to Canadians with disabilities in the areas of mobility, safety and independence. In addition to training Dog Guides for people who are blind or visually impaired, the school also trains Dog Guides to assist Canadians with hearing and other medically and physically limiting disabilities. It costs approximately $20,000 to raise and train each Dog Guide, yet Dog Guides are provided at no cost to qualified applicants from across the country. |
