Calling all Dragon Boat paddlers You can paddle your way to excitement and help abused and neglected children in Simcoe County at the third annual Full Moon Dragon Boat relay in Barrie on June 15th and 16th from 8pm until 8am. Last year, 120 people paddled 200 kilometres in 24 hours...this year we hope to paddle 124 in just 12 hours. You can be part of the Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County's Dragon Boat relay as a paddler - if you hurray. Teams are already registering and spots are going fast. Teams of 25 take turns paddling back and forth across Kempenfelt Bay. Paddle for 10 - 12 minutes, then enjoy a couple of hours of live music, hot tubs, napping, eating or playing games before taking up the paddle again. What do you need? Enthusiasm; general good health; $50 per person or $1000 per team of 25; one hour to practice before the event. What you don't need - A boat - that's provided; food - there's dinner, midnight snacks; breakfast, entertainment - live music, contests, movie; life jacket and paddle; water - there's plenty to drink and paddle on; tent with a view of the lake - it's waiting for you. Call the Foundation to reserve your place at (705) 726-6587, ext. 2328, or visit www.childrensaidfoundatio n.com. |
