Trying to find a job that not only uses the skills you have, but a job you enjoy going to, can be a challenging experience. Most people work five days a week, eight hours a day, and if you are not happy going to your place of employment everyday, it can also be a dreadful experience.

Spherion is a temp agency that not only helps people to find employment, but tries to find the best placement for each individual based on their skills and what path they want to choose.

"One of the highest costs a company can incur is the HR factor," said Bonnie Sue Cuppage, Regional Branch Manager of Spherion in Barrie. "This is our specialty."

Cuppage says her staff understands how challenging it is when someone loses their job or has to start a new career, and Spherion helps people to get the right resources; improve their resume, skills, and get into the field they want to enter. A placement through Spherion is how individuals can get placed from temporary work to a hired position.

She said Spherion also helps when businesses need someone for as short as taking minutes for a meeting, and they have helped out with movie productions that have come to the area and needed temporary workers on their set. Cuppage said the extra work is a great asset for any resume.

The areas Spherion specializes in include career placement services, contact centre solutions, light industrial services, technology and engineering, outsourcing, HR consulting, executive and professional searches, global and national partnership solutions, on-premise services, and financial staffing.

Cuppage said an asset to working with Spherion is the large amount of references they have due to offices throughout North America. Placement searches can be made across the country.

"In the end, we want to know what the client wants to do," she said. "We want to know what field they want to work in that, at the end of the day, will make them happy."

The Barrie location has won numerous awards, and sponsors many organizations and teams throughout the community.

"Overall we are just trying to do the best we can do for our clients," Cuppage. She understands many people want to work where they live, and do not want the daily commute to the GTA.

"There is a lot of great talent here. We have a strong work force." She said their Canadian executive is extremely supportive, and has given her the opportunity to help those in the community. "They believe what I believe."

Cuppage said if you don't like what you do for a living, then you shouldn't be doing it. "I am passionate about making people happy. I love what I do and if we can help others find their passion, then we have done a good job."
