South Simcoe Police Motor Vehicle Collision, Take Auto Without Consent On Monday May 28, 2007 a 17 yr old male was driving westbound on Line 7 west of County Road 4 when he purposely began swerving the vehicle. He was travelling approx 80 kph when he lost control and entered the ditch on the North side and stopped as he hit a tree. There were no injuries however investigating officers believed it was only luck that saved both the driver and his 17 yr old passenger from serious injury or death. Investigation revealed that the driver had taken the vehicle without his father's consent. That driver now faces charges of Careless Driving. Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public, Breach of Probation On Monday the 28th of May 2007 a 33 yr old female was located a Belle Aire Beach Road address and was displaying an extremely violent behavior while in possession of a knife. Police were called and she subsequently ran out of the residence while still holding onto the weapon. She was later located by members of the South Simcoe Police running in the middle of the roadway while holding onto a knife following a very frightened motorist. When confronted by Police she threw the knife away. This female was then arrested and transported to hospital. Further investigation revealed this female was currently under Probation after being convicted of violent offences. She was released from Hosptial and was then held in custody and she is now facing charges for breaching her probation and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Possession of Cocaine On Tuesday May 29, members of the SSPS received information that parties were dealing crack cocaine from a Stroud address in Innisfil. Individuals were spotted leaving the address and were investigated in their vehicle. Investigation revealed a quantity of crack-cocaine both in the vehicle and on their persons. In addition, a quantity of stolen hand tools and a large amount of cash was seized. A male and female, both 43, residing in Barrie have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Possession of Cocaine On Tuesday May 29, members of SSPS observed a 47 year old male from Barrie enter a Motel in the Innisfil area and then enter a vehicle. This individual began acting suspiciously while in the vehicle and was investigated. A quantity of cocaine was then located inside the vehicle and he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Alleged Robbery On Wednesday May 30, 2007 members of SSPS attended Salem Rd in regards to a information received from Barrie City Police of an alleged robbery. A an adult female victim stated that the she had gotten lost in the bush and stuck in the mud when she was accosted by 2 males who threw her down and stole $20 from her. That particular area of Salem road has recently become frequented by drug users an area of interest for the SSPS. Investigation revealed that the victim was exhibiting signs of cocaine use and a background history revealed other possible mental problems. Police are continuing to investigate. Theft under $5000 On Wednesday, 30 May 07 officers attended a store at the Cookstown Outlet Mall in Innisfil. Investigation revealed several employees had been involved in thefts from the store the total of which was estimated to under $5000. A significant amount of property was recovered in the investigation. The employees were all youthful offenders who were referred to the Elizabeth Fry Society who will supervise any possible restitution and or conditions which they must meet to avoid criminal prosecution. The store involved also immediately terminated their employment. Break and Enter On May 31st, at approximately 2:55hrs the writer was requested to attend the Tim Horton's Drive through on Bridge street for a Break and Enter. Entry was gained by defeating the front glass door of the premise and the alarm system. Once inside, culprits removed a quantity of cash while avoiding the security cameras. Assault Police/Mischief On 1 June a South Simcoe Police officer was patrolling Innisfil Beach Park and was approached by an 18 yr old Innisfil male who was obviously intoxicated. The male was arrested for being intoxicated and taken into custody. While at the Police Station the male struck two officers and damaged a police radio. The male also attempted to flood the cell by stuffing his pants down the toilet. The male continually hurled insults at the officers and tried to spit on them, unsuccessfully. The male was charged with Assault Police X2 and Mischief as well as Liquor Licence Act offences. The male was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Bradford. Speeding - Bradford West Gwillimbury On 1 June South Simcoe Police were conducting radar on County Rd 27 at the 4th Line of Bradford when a pickup truck was observed speeding northbound on County Rd 27. The driver, an 18 year old Caledon male was clocked going 146 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver now has a court date in Bradford to answer to the charge of Speeding. Assault with a weapon On Saturday June 2, at approximately 8:55a.m. South Simcoe Police responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Concession Road 13 in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. The common law husband and wife were arguing when the husband threw a porcelain object at his wife striking her in the head. Police have charged a 42 year old Bradford male with Assault with a Weapon and he has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Assault On Sunday June 3, South Simcoe Police attended a domestic dispute at a residence on Lebanon St in the Town of Innisfil. Upon arriving on scene police learned that the common law wife and a friend had been assaulted. The common law husband was arrested for assault. Police have charged a 60 year old Innisfil male with Assault. The male has been released from custody with conditions pending a July 12th court. Possession of Replica Weapon - Bradford At approximately 4:40 pm Sunday June 3, a couple driving from Newmarket northbound on Yonge Street towards Bradford reported seeing a black pick-up truck with 2 young male occupants in it who were waving and pointing what appeared to be a black gun at them. Truck was observed to go into a plaza in Bradford's east end where the occupants exited and went into a Video Store. Officers arrived apprehended two male youths on exiting the store. One of the males was found to be in possession of an Adult Video he had just stolen from the Video Store and a small quantity a marihuana. One of the male youths turned over a black pellet gun resembling a semi-automatic pistol. Two 17 year old young offenders, both from Bradford, were charged with a Weapons Offence and one of the male was charged with Drug and Theft Offences. Both were released to their parents. Break, Enter and Theft (Multiple Locations) - Canine Track - Arrest - Innisfil South Simcoe Police received a report of a male prowling around residences of Victoria Street East, Stroud shortly after midnight Tuesday June 5. Officers responded to the area and found that several residential garages and sheds had been broken into. The South Simcoe Police along with Police Dog "Ronin" began a four (4) hour track of the suspect involved. A 44 year old Innisfil male was located by "Ronin" and arrested by officers. During the arrest the male punched Police Dog "Ronin" in the nose and pulled on his ears in an attempt to evade arrest. In excess of $5000 worth of household tools stolen from the properties entered was recovered. The male has been charged with 5 counts of Break, Enter and Theft, 5 counts of Possession of Stolen Property, 1 count of Prowling by Night, and 1 count of Animal Cruelty. |
