Essa fire pumper doesn't attract much interest

      Essa township won't be receiving much money on the sale of its 1993 half ton fire department truck. Only two bids were received for the vehicle,which had extensive mileage and was in need of major repair work. It was sold to Cochrane Mechanics for $827 in "as is" condition.

      Simcoe County's Literacy results seem to be improving in the province wide EQAO testing. Grade 10 students in March wrote the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test with a provincial average of 84% of fully participating students passing.

Essa recognizes four youths for heroism

      Essa council gave special recognition to four Angus youths who helped saved two people from a house fire last May. Becky Simms, and Tyler Kononiuk, Aaron Seamans and Holli-Ann Pitcher were recognized by council at a special meeting last Wednesday night at the township municipal offices.
