Aggravated Assault on Canal Road during 400 closure On Monday, June 18, 2007 at approx 3:30 p.m. the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a stabbing that occurred on Canal Road in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Investigation to this point has revealed that two vehicles became involved in an incident on Canal Road east of Hwy # 400. Both vehicles ended up in a lot on Canal Road at which time the driver of the first vehicle who is the accused in this matter and the passenger of the second vehicle who is the victim both exited their respective vehicles. The two males then became involved in a verbal and physical altercation resulting in the accused stabbing the victim. The male victim was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and is suffering non-life threatening injuries. The accused, a 32 year old Barrie man was arrested a short time after this incident and will be held for a Bail Hearing. The accused is facing Charges of Aggravated Assault, Weapons Dangerous to Public Peace, and Dangerous Driving. Request for Assistance from Public During this Incident the accused was driving a 2006 Beige/Brown Toyota Corolla 4 Dr car and towing a empty small utility trailer. Investigation has revealled that just prior to the assault, in the same location on Canal Road just east of Hwy #400 Bradford West Gwillimbury the accused vehicle was involved in a confrontation with several other vehicles while driving E/B on Canal Rd. The South Simcoe Police are requesting that the driver and/or passenger of a Blue/Green van that engaged the accused vehicle contact the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigation Bureau. This person(s) is considered a witness to these events. The South Simcoe Police are requesting that any other persons who may have witnessed the driving or the assault contact the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-775-3311. |
