CHURCHILL NEWS
by Linda Gerow

It was gratifying this past weekend to see all the Canadian flags and festivities to celebrate Canada Day. If you couldn't find something to do, then you sure weren't looking. From Lefroy to Barrie and back again, you could see a parade, attend a fireworks display, walk the Promenade on Barrie's main street or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful sunny and somtimes cool weather. Hope everyone had a terrific long weekend. Also, remember that the kids are out of school and will be more visible during the day on the roads with their skateboards and bikes.

Smile: Paddy was trapped in a bog and seemed a goner when Big Mick O'Reilly wandered by.

"Help!" Paddy shouted, "I'm sinkin'! "Don't worry," assured Mick. "Next to the Strong Muldoon, I'm the strongest man in Erin, and I'll pull ye right out o' there." Mick leaned out and grabbed Paddy's hand and pulled and pulled to no avail. After two more unsuccessful attempts, Mick said to Paddy, "Shure, an' I can't do it. The Strong Muldoon could do it alone, mebbe, but I'll have to get some help." As Mick was leaving, Paddy called "Mick! Mick! D'ye think it will help if I pull me feet out of the stirrups?" (Don, I expect you to be reading this using your best Irish brogue!)
