Alzheimer Society thanks Innisfil for support Dear editor, On behalf of the Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County, I would like to extend to the people of Barrie and Innisfil our deepest appreciation for the support of the Society's annual Tag Days that were held on June 1 & 2. Thanks to their generosity, and the support of the Volunteer Canvassers and the many business establishments which granted permission for us to canvass on their properties, the Society is delighted to announce that the sum of $7,935.12 was raised in Barrie, Stroud and Alcona. In Greater Simcoe County, a total of $18,850.95 was raised during Tag Day campaigns held in 13 communities throughout June. This money will go towards the funding of support services such as individual counseling and regular caregiver support group meetings and workshops. It will also help fund educational events for persons with dementia, family caregivers and professional care providers, as well as for groundbreaking biomedical and caregiving research. The Society also maintains an extensive Resource Library at our offices in Barrie, which will lend books and videotapes, and provide further information or assistance. We invite the public to contact us at 705-722-1066, or via email atalzgsc@csolve.net. I would also like to extend our thanks to the Innisfil Scope for providing us with the space to contact the public about our programs and events so that we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of persons directly affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Sincerely, Debbie Islam Executive Director Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County |
