Cross with Care Campaign wraps up

South Simcoe Police have wrapped up the three week long "Cross with Care" campaign that saw officers educate and enforce the rules of the road in and around pedestrian cross walks in the downtown area of Bradford. This campaign was brought about as a result of pedestrian fatalities and injuries in the recent past. Police remind both motorists and pedestrians to use care around all cross walks and intersections.

Officers will continue to monitor and lay charges in a continued effort to reduce pedestrian struck collisions.

During the three week campaign officers issued a total of 145 charges to vehicle drivers related to cross walk violations and speeding. A total of 4 pedestrians were charged with improper use of the cross walk. Officers also issued cautions to 109 vehicle drivers and to 51 pedestrians.

A total of 4 suspended drivers were also charged and 3 uninsured motorists were caught. Officers also charged two motorists for possession of marihuana during the campaign.
