Assault

On Thursday, July 5th, at approx. 2230 hrs the South Simcoe Police were contacted advising that there was a fight going on outside a residence in Bradford. South Simcoe Police attended to the area and located a female that had been knocked unconscious.

Ambulance arrived and the female advised that she was alright. It was later learned that her boyfriend was the one who assaulted her. Police stayed in the area as the boyfriend left prior to police arriving. After an hour of looking for the male police were contacted advising the male police were looking for was back again at the same residence. Police were advised that another fight with the same male but this time with a different person was taking place. Police arrived again and this time arrested a 20 year old Bradford male and charged him with 3 counts of assault and one count of mischief. He was held for Bail.

Criminal Harassment/ Utter death threats

On July 5th, at approx. 1:30 p.m. the South Simcoe Police were contacted by a female in Alcona in the Town of Innisfil advising that she had just been threatened by her exboyfriend and that he has been harassing her for a few months. Police were advised that the accused lived in Halton Region. South Simcoe Police contacted Halton Regional Police who attended to the accused residence. The accused agreed to attend with Police to answer to the charges. South Simcoe Police picked the male up in Halton and the 52 year old Halton man was arrested and held for a bail hearing the next morning in Barrie.

Motor Vehicle Accident - Stolen Auto

On Saturday July 7, at approximately 4:15 a.m. police received a call about a motor vehicle accident at Walker Avenue and the 6th Concession of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Officers arrived on scene and found a 2004 Ford Thunderbird submerged in a drainage canal that runs parallel to Walker Avenue. A South Simcoe Police officer entered the water and pulled the driver, who was the only occupant, from the vehicle. In the process the officer received a minor injury to his leg.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been traveling East on the 6th Concession of Bradford West Gwillimbury when it failed to negotiate a bend in the road, traveled through the intersection, struck a guard rail, rolled onto its roof, and entered the canal. The vehicle had been reported stolen the previous morning to the O.P.P. in Alliston.

An 18 year male from Alliston has been charged with Theft Over $5,000.00, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Undertaking, and Breach of Probation x 2. He was treated and released from South Lake Regional Health Centre and held for a bail hearing. The officer was also treated for his injuries at South Lake and released. The vehicle is a total loss.

Assault with a weapon

On the 6th of July at approximately 11:00 PM the South Simcoe Police Service received a call for assistance from a male who had been struck in the face with a beer bottle thrown through a window at the Lions hall in Alcona while attending a concert. Suspects fled prior to police arrival. Any person having information on the assault is requested to call Crime Stoppers.

Motor vehicle collision

On the 6th of July at approximately 8:45 PM the South Simcoe Police Service received a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision with personal injuries at the 6th concession and St Johns Road in Innisfil. Investigation found that a 19 year old Innisfil male failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by a south bound motor vehicle. Two occupants transported to hospital with none life threatening injuries. The 19 year old male will be charged with failing to stop at a stop sign under the Highway Traffic Act.

Impaired driving

On Sunday July 8, at approximately 12:47 am police observed a Blue Ford pickup truck turning left onto Holland Street West. The vehicle drew the attention of police because the vehicle accelerated rapidly, squealing the rear tires causing the truck to fishtail on dry asphalt pavement. The investigating officer arrested the driver a 20 year old Schomberg man for impaired driving. At the police station the accused registered readings of 180mgs. The accused was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mgs. The accused was released on a promise to appear and scheduled to appear in Bradford Court.

Warrant Executed

On Sunday July 8, the South Simcoe Police were notified by the York Regional Police about a male they had in custody that was wanted by South Simcoe. He had failed to appear in a Bradford court on February 16, 2006 on a charge of Impaired Driving and a warrant had been issued for him at that time. Officers attended the York Regional Police station in Newmarket and returned the male, age 37 and of no fixed address, to Bradford where he was held for a bail hearing on July 9th.

Assault/Breach of Undertaking

On Sunday July 8, at approximately 7:45 p.m. police were called to a Bradford West Gwillimbury apartment complex for a family dispute. Upon arrival, they discovered a male had assaulted his mother during an argument. Further investigation revealed he was on an Undertaking with condition that he not communicate with her. He was also discovered to be on two probations orders with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The male, a 31 year old Bradford resident, was arrested and charged with Assault, Breach of Undertaking and two counts of Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing on July 9th.
