Rock feature for IRC
by Michelle Minnoch

Mayor Brian Jackson and Steve Radcliffe, members of the Communities in Bloom (CIB) Committee went before council Wednesday night, highlighting the rock feature that will be located at the front entrance of the new rec centre. The CIB Committee raised $20,000 at their Garden Gala for the purpose of creating a water feature for the new facility.

"The Communities in Bloom have been raising money for the past two years for this feature," remarked Jackson, adding it would be located on the north side of the facility. The rock itself has a 25 foot circumference.

The Committee will be in charge of coring the rock, and transporting it to the facility.

"I know the committee has worked long and hard on this," said Deputy Mayor Wauchope. "I know the architect is happy with what he sees. It's going to be a great feature."

There will be a depression in the rock feature, so people can sit and relax.

The CIB Committee will also be in charge of the landscaping around the feature.
