An early wake-up call in Alcona

South Simcoe Police were called to Oriole Cres home in Innisfil at approx. 4 am on Wednesday July 25. Residents reported that a van had struck parked cars and then continued on and struck the corner of a residence, causing severe damage.

"The whole house shook," said the homeowner. "I first thought someone had broken into the house."

The homeowner said not only is the side of the home damaged, but so are the beams in the garage.

One of his neighbours was up at the time of the incident.

"We were in the garage and heard a bang," said Matt, who lives a few houses down from the scene.

"First the guy hit one car, then another, then smashed into the house."

He said he ran to the scene, opened the passenger door to find no-one inside. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.

Police attended and apprehended a 18 yr old male in the area who was in breach of his Court conditions and is being investigated for the collision. Three cars were struck by the stolen van prior to it hitting the house.

Innisfil Building Dept attended the scene and advised that the stolen van cannot be removed until an engineer determines the structure to be safe. Police investigation is continuing.
