Outdoor signage now approved for IRC, NAB
by Michelle Minnoch

The Town has made an exception to the sign bylaw, allowing the signs of the new recreation complex to exceed the height and face dimension already set out.

"I would like to pass this so we can get the signs ordered right away," remarked Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope.

Mayor Brian Jackson concurred, saying they wanted the signage to be consistent with the new buildings. He commented that the sign by-law currently in place is for residents, as there were complaints about too many signs in the area, particularly along Innisfil Beach Road and the 400.

The first sign, to be located at the Yonge Street entrance of the rec centre would be 7.87 metres high, exceeding the 4 metre limit, and the total area of the sign will be 23.93 square metres, exceeding the 15 square metres set out in the by-law. The second red centre sign, located on Innisfil Beach Road, exceeds the height requirement by 2.6 metres and the size by 1.04 metres.

The sign designated for the new administrative building meets current requirements.
