Domestic Assault

On July 25, 2007 South Simcoe Police were called to an Innisfil address for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival police arrested a 52 year old Innisfil woman for domestic assault. She was released on a promise to appear and undertaking.

Impaired Care or Control

On July 25, 2007 South Simcoe Police were called to Hwy 27 and 10th Concession of Innisfil for a Motor vehicle Collision. Both drivers were transported to hospital. Upon investigation the driver of one of the vehicles was arrested and charged with Impaired driving and Driving over 80 mgs. He was released with a court date in August

House Fire On July 25, 2007 around 8:00 pm Innisfil Fire and South Simcoe Police responded to a house fire on Hwy 89 in Cookstown.

The attached garage was fully engulfed. All the occupants of the residence got out safely.

Innisfil Fire is investigating the cause of the fire.

Impaired Driving, Drive over 80 mgs.

On July 25, 2007 South Simcoe Police were doing a traffic point at Hwy 89 & 5th Sideroad for a house fire a short distance away. A vehicle travelling west bound at a high rate of speed approached the closed road. The officer signalled the vehicle over.

The driver a 49 year old male from New Lowell was arrested and charged with Impaired driving and driving over 80 mgs. He was released with a court date in August.

Excessive Speed on Highway 400 near Innisfil Beach Road south to King Road

A South Simcoe Police - Traffic Officer was southbound on 400 Highway in the area of Innisfil Beach Road in the Town of Innisfil shortly after midnight on Friday the 27th July 2007. The officer took notice of a motorcycle also southbound travelling at an extemely high rate of speed.

This vehicle was estimated to be speeding between 170-200 km / hr and accelerated up to 230 km/hr at times unaware a police cruiser was behind him.

Eventually this driver was stopped safely just north of King Road in York Region.

A 34 year old Brampton man is charged with speeding 230 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone and issued a summons to appear in Bradford Court on 17 August 2007.

Intoxicated in Public Place/Fail to Comply Recognizance

The South Simcoe Police Service were contacted by a citizen on Saturday evening at approx. 10:30 p.m. advising that there was a male staggering all over the road on Innisfil Beach road in Alcona.

Police attended to the area and located a male that was having a hard time standing on his own two feet.

The officers tried to communicate with the male but he was to inebriated to talk. He thought he was still in Toronto.

The male was subsequently arrested for intoxicated in a public place for his own safety.

After a record check was done it was learned that he was out on charges with Metro Police with a curfew not to be out past 10:00 p.m. and no consumption of alcohol.

The 24 year old Toronto male was charged accordingly and held for bail.

Motor Vehicle Collision - Cyclist Struck in Bradford

On Sunday the 29th of July 2007, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 44 year old Bradford man was riding his bicycle westbound on Holland Street East near Bingham Street in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The cyclist then tried to cross the street and was struck by a westbound motor vehicle.

The cyclist hit the hood and windshield of the vehicle and was thrown to the ground. He was transported to hospital by ambulance with unknown head injuries.

The Traffic Unit attended the scene for reconstruction purposes and the roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours.

The driver of the motor vehicle a 54 year old Bradford man and his passenger were not injured.

The cyclist was treated in hospital and later released.

Investigation is continuing as to the cause of the collision and neither speed or alcohol were a factor.

Impaired Driving

At approximately 8:00 pm July 30 an off duty OPP officer reported to South Simcoe Police he was following a suspected impaired driver eastbound on Highway 88 approaching Bradford.

The vehicle, a Corvette convertible, was described as weaving onto the road shoulder several times. South Simcoe Police officers stopped the southbound vehicle at the Bradford / York Region border on Yonge Street. A 42 year old King Township male was arrested for Impaired Driving.

The accused male provided breath samples in excess of twice the legal limit of .08.

The accused male was on bail for a previous charge of Impaired Driving from 2006 in York Region.

The male was held for a Bail Hearing in Barrie on 31 July 2007.

Break and Enter Business

A shopkeeper working late at a Holland Street East Plaza heard suspicious noises at approximately 11:00 PM 30 July 2007 and called South Simcoe Police. A rear door to the plaza building had been pried open allowing access to the upper hallways of the building where several businesses were located. The culprits used a sledge hammer to attempt to break into a convenience store from an adjacent stairwell, but were unsuccessful.
