August full of fun at the Wye Marsh Wine & Cheese Art Sale In The Marsh A variety of art and photography will be available for appreciation, viewing and purchase during our "Wine & Cheese in the Marsh". Come and enjoy the diversity of the artists works and discuss with them their inspirations for the pieces featured at this unique event. Wye Marsh will be selling Christine Marshall, Richard Brown and a variety of other prints which have been donated for this event. Artists attending are: Joe Springall, Deb Grise?, Cynthia Blair, Beverley J. Hanna, and Bruce & Marlene Lockhart. Included in this magical evening are several musicians performing throughout the marsh, enjoy a sundown guided canoe, and meet our newest addition to the Birds of Prey program, Stella, the Eagle Owl. Date: Saturday, August 11 th from 5 until 9 pm. Cost: $5.00 per person, does not include wine and beer. Renewable Energy Workshop - The objective of this workshop is to provide owners of residential and recreational homes, farmers and other small businesses with the practical information needed to plan and install small scale renewable energy systems on their properties. Guests Speakers include: Peter Bursztyn - Laurentian University/Georgian College, Wilco Vercoelen - Dommelvalley Green Power, Sven DeBruyn - Detronics, and Paul Catling - Sentinel Power Systems. Topics that will be covered during the workshop are: Home or Small Business Energy Conservation, Solar Power Systems, Wind Power Systems, and Integrated Renewable Energy Systems. The workshop concludes with a tour of Wye Marsh's Renewable Energy Station. Date: Wednesday, August 22nd at 10 am to 3:30pm Cost : $50 per person PRE-REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT IN ADVANCE REQUIRED, CALL WYE MARSH AT (705) 526-7809 Summer Family Fun at Wye Marsh Every Day - Join us at Wye Marsh any day in August for a guided canoe along the marsh channels and/or a walk along our beautiful trails and learn about the environment that surrounds us. Also for the month of August at 11 am and 2 pm we are offering a variety of exciting and entertaining summer programs. Mondays - Family GPS Treasure Hunting, Tuesdays - Bees Please, Wednesdays - Backyard Birding, Thursdays - Wonderful Wildflower Walks, Fridays - Wet N Scaly Shows, Saturdays - Family Survival Training, Sundays (2 pm ONLY) - Birds of Prey Shows Dates: Every day in August Times: Canoes Tours 9:30 am, 11 am, 12:30 pm, 2 pm, and 3:30 pm Guided Walks 10 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4 pm Programs are 11 am and 2 pm Cost: Guided Walks and programs are included with general admission and Canoe Tours are $6.00 plus GST extra per person. Pre-registration is recommended for Canoe Tours and must be a minimum of six years of age. Walks and programs do not require preregistration. |
