LEFROY/BELLE EWART NEWS
by Linda Gerow

Say what you may about the youth of today and their lack of enthusiasm for all things traditional, when along comes a small but mighty youth group council, called Innisfil YNOT, who have taken on a huge endeavour to revive the annual tradition of a Street Dance in Lefroy. For a very long time, residents of Lefroy and all surrounding areas, have had the opportunity to enjoy this end-ofsummer event, formerly organized by the Lions Club, and now, thanks to this energetic youth group council, the street dance will return on Labour Day weekend. Church Street will close at 6 p.m. and the fun will include entertainment from Innisfil musician Ian Mitchell and local band Final Thought. There will be daytime activities for the kids and a beer tent in the evening. Plans also include a garage sale with tables renting for $10.

YNOT, backed by Nottawasaga Futures, saw the need to continue with the annual event and took the idea to the council members. Comprised of three chapters in south Simcoe that includes Innisfil, Bradford and Alliston, members of YNOT have been involved with other projects too, such as the Nantyr Shores' music program at the end of June and the Spin 4 Kids event. Next on their agenda...trying to get a bus service operating in Innisfil. Members range between 13 and 29 years. If you are interested in helping with the street dance or wish to join the YNOT council, please call 705-431-1586 or email: ynot@nottawasaga.com. Way to go YNOT!!
