Big Bay Point hearing continues

An expert archeologist has stated that the proposed Big Bay Point development does not rest atop of a First Nations historic site.

The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearing regarding the development began last Wednesday in Alliston.

The project's leading archeologist stated there is no evidence that there are burials at the development site.

Three groups opposing the development, including the Innisfil District Association, are looking to adjourn the hearing until more historical studies are conducted and until the province passes the Lake Simcoe Act.

The proposed resort includes a 1600 residential housing units, 400 hotel rooms, a golf course, marina, conference centre, theatre, fitness centre and retail space.

The hearing continues at the Nottawasaga Inn in Alliston.
