THORNTON NEWS Aug. 22, tonight, from 6:30 until 7:30, don't forget about the Family Fun Night brought to you by Essa Public Library and Good For Life at the Thornton Library. Your whole family is invited to a fun filled, active evening and best of all it's free. Many activities are planned to help families be active together and lead a healthy lifestyle. Every participating family will receive a gift bag and there will be a draw for the grand prize of a supermarket gift certificate intended for use to purchase healthy food choices. Registration is not required. So, bring the family to the library for some active fun & exercise. The Literacy Council of South Simcoe is dedicated to promoting and providing literacy skills to the community and they are offering free, confidential tutoring to adults in the community. The Thornton Skating Club will be holding two registration dates at the Thornton Arena. The first will be on Monday, Sept. 17 from 7 until 9 p.m. and the second will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. until noon. Their programs which run on Monday and Wednesday evenings include Canskate, Junior and Intermediate and on Friday evenings is Power Skating for those whose wish to improve their hockey skills.
