Charges laid in 400 accident

Barrie OPP have laid charges in the collision that occurred on Hwy. 400 southbound, south of Bayfield St.

OnJuly 24, at 10:25 a.m. a red Camaro entered Hwy. 400 from Bayfield St. merging in front of a cement truck. At that moment a tractor trailer also southbound made a lane change from the center lane to the shoulder lane in front of the cement truck not realizing the Camaro was there. The tractor trailer struck the Camaro, which sent it spinning across all three lanes of traffic. As a result, a domino effect took place causing yet another tractor trailer to change lanes to avoid hitting the Camaro but hit a Jeep traveling in the left lane.

The driver of the Camaro, a 41-year-old male from Hillsdale was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital then air lifted to St Mike's Hospital in Toronto where he died as a result of his injuries.

A charge of Unsafe Lane Change has now been laid against the truck driver, Stephen Green, 42, from Mississauga.
