Five hurt in car/truck accident
South Simcoe Police report that a van travelling southbound on the 10th Sideroad pulled out into the path of a westbound dump truck. The driver of the dump truck swerved to try and avoid the van but was unable to avoid the crash. The dump truck continued westerly following the first impact and struck two other eastbound vehicles before it drove off the road into the North ditch. The driver of the van, a 37-year old Bolton women has been charged with Careless Driving. All of the injuries have been described as non lifethreatening. County Road 89 was closed for approximately 3 hours for the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the investigating officer, Constable Steve Black at (905) 775-3311 or (705) 431-2141. Speeding Thursday, members of the SSPS Traffic Unit were conducting enforcement operations on the 12th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury east of the Yonge St. stopped a motorist for driving at 156km/h in a 60km/h zone. The motorist was charged with both Speeding and Careless Driving in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. Bail Violation On Thursday, a Bradford resident attended the south division of the SSPS to make inquiries to determine his next court date. He was promptly arrested and informed that he was six days late for court. Child Pornography Thursday, after a lengthy investigation, members of the Provincial Project "P" task force and members of the SSPS arrested a young offender in Bradford for possession of child pornography The accused's computer has seized and evidence was obtained from it with a warrant. Parents are cautioned to remain aware of what transpires on their family computer. Mischief, Assault Police On Saturday, several intoxicated males were in attendance at a Bradford area Pizza shop and had become unruly prompting the shop owners to call for police. Upon arrival members of the SSPS observed one especially antagonistic male who allegedly had kicked at the shop owners vehicle. Police investigated and arrested this male and a struggle ensued which resulted in an officer being assaulted and charges of Mischief and Assaulting Police. The male was held in custody and released when sobre with conditions not to consume any more alcohol. Bradford Carrott Fest On Saturday, Bradford West Gwillimbury celebrated the annual harvest with the Carrot Fest festivities in the downtown core. Members of the SSPS were engaged in various Liquor Licence Act enforcment initiatives resulting in three males being charged with intoxication and one fight being broken up at the time of last call. There were no injuries to anyone involved and due to a highly visible uniformed police presence in the downtown core of Bradford the celebrations were successful and enjoyed by all. Impaired / Over 80 mgs A local resident is being credited with alerting SSP to an alleged impaired driver in BWG on Sunday afternoon. At about 3:30, the Good Samaritan called police after spotting a pick-up truck being driven erratically southbound on Yonge St. south of Hwy. 89. Cruisers were dispatched from the Bradford station and located the vehicle in the area a short time later. A 37-year old man from Mexico was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Driving Over 80 mgs. He was transported to the South Division where he was given a Breathalyzer test, registering more than twice the legal limit. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in Bradford Provincial Court on Sept. 6th. You can play a role in keeping our roadways safe. Police will ask you to provide your location, a description of the vehicle, a description of the driver and the last know direction of travel. Police do not want motorists to put themselves in danger, never follow the suspect vehicle or try to apprehend an impaired driver yourself. Break & Enter South Simcoe Police are investigating a Break & Enter, which occurred at a Bradford farm sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Police report that unknown person(s) entered a barn on Simcoe Road and removed several tools that were located inside. Police are searching for the person(s) responsible for this incident.
