The Essa Public Library and Good for Life presented a Family Fun Night at the Thornton Library on Wednesday evening, August 22nd. Many families gathered on the lawn to have fun and play some games while being active together. Each family had to participate in all five of the games to be eligible to enter into a draw for a gift certificate from a local grocery store.

The winner of the draw for the $25 gift certificate was the Ferguson family of Thornton. Every family received a gift bag filled with useful information about keeping fit and healthy, a water bottle and toy to keep them active.

Ontario Early Years and Essa Public Library have the fall schedule ready for the latest Make n Take session for preschoolers. In September, two dates have been scheduled starting on September 18 and again on September 25 both starting at 10 a.m. Stop by the library and sign you preschoolers up to enjoy songs, stories crafts and more. This is a free event but pre-registration is required. For more information call 458-2549.

There was a slight error in the information about the registration for the Thornton Skating Club last week. They will be holding registration for Canskate Junior and Senior (not Intermediate as reported last week) and Powerskate.

Everything else is still the same. There will be two registration dates, the first will be on Monday, September 17 from 7 until 9 p.m. and the second will be held on Saturday, September 29 from 9 a.m. until noon. Also new this year is a fun Cardio Adult skate on Wednesday evenings. Call Charlene at 739-9226 for more information. Registration will be held at the Thornton Arena.
