Possession of Stolen Property and Firearms Offences

At approximately 3:30 PM Wednesday August 15, 2007 a male witness was travelling on 400 Highway in Innisfil when he observed a slow moving fork-lift travelling on Rieve Boulevard, a service road just north of Highway 89, Cookstown.

The witness recognized the fork-lift as one stolen approximately one (1) week ago from the Alliston area. The witness called South Simcoe Police to report his observations. The Fork-lift and an escorting pickup truck were subsequently stopped by Police.

Two (2) males were arrested on scene and a third male fled into a bush area. The third male was later arrested after a Canine Search of the area. The owner of the fork-lift was notified by the witness and confirmed the fork-lift was one stolen from him one week ago.

A search of the escorting pickup truck resulted in the finding of a handgun and burglary tools.

The three (3) arrested males:(1) a 46-year old from Bradford, (2) a 42-year old from Toronto, and (3) a 34- year old from Mississauga face a variety of offences including, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property over $5000, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Firearm Offences.

Theft Over $5000 - All Terrain Vehicle (ATV)

South Simcoe Police are investigating the theft of an ATV from a 6th Line Innisfil residence sometime between August 14-15, 2007. Homeowners were away from their residence and returned to find their 1998 Yamaha "Big Bear" SE Blue missing.

Mischief

On Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007 at approx. 11:53p.m. a South Simcoe Police Officer was doing surveillance on a golf course in Innisfil as there had been many damaged and stolen carts over the summer.

The officer observed a vehicle pull up and drop three males off while the vehicle waited on the roadway.

The officer observed three males attend to the golf course. After a few minutes the males ran back to the vehicle as an alarm was set off.

The vehicle was stopped with the assistance of other officers. The investigation revealed that two golf carts had been hot wired and ready to be moved.

The South Simcoe Canine attended to assist with a possible 4th suspect. It was apparent the alarm scared them off.

One adult and two youths have been charged with two counts of mischief. They have a court date in October. During the investigation police recovered and outstanding golf cart that had been missing for a few weeks.

The investigation continues and more charges are pending.

Armed Robbery

At approximately 9:20 PM Friday August 24th, 2007 a lone male entered a Holland Street East, Bradford convenience store a brandished a knife to the lone female clerk demanding money. The male was wearing a ball cap pulled down and sunglasses to conceal his face.

While the store clerk was in the process of handing over the money, two customers entered the store and were alerted to the robbery by the female clerk. The suspect attempted to run from the store but was blocked by the two male citizen customers.

The suspect punched and kicked at the two citizens as they attempted to stop and detain the suspect.

The suspect managed to get to his vehicle in an attempt to take off with the citizens still trying to stop and detain him.

The suspect eventually gave up on his attempt to escape and was detained by the citizens until the police arrived. All money stolen from the clerk was recovered.

A 27 year old male from Innisfil was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Wearing a Disguise, and Assault. The accused was also charged with Breach of Undertaking when it was found that he was on release from previous charges Break and Enter, Fraud and Mischief Offences from Halton Regional and Barrie Police Services.

Domestic Assault

On August 25, 2007 Police were called to an Innisfil address regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival police arrested a 51 year old woman.

She was charged with assault with a weapon and was released on a promise to appear and undertaking.
