County to begin 2008 budget process

Simcoe County will begin its 2008 budget process later this month.

County councillors decided last week to begin with a strategic planning session at the September meeting.

A special council meeting on October 31 will allow councillors to see a proposed draft budget for 2008.

The budget will then be sent to the county's standing committees for review.

The completed budget will be passed at the November county council meeting.

County clerk Glen Knox noted in his report that early adoption of the budget will allow "timely provision of information to the member municipalities, better vendor pricing and the opportunity for staff to schedule the year's work well in advance."
