Guergis to seek another term as warden

Current Simcoe County warden Tony Guergis will be seeking a second term this December.

Guergis made his announcement at the end of last week's county council meeting. He is the first candidate to enter the race.

The Essa born Guergis has been a member of county council since 2003.

"I will run for warden again. I have certainly enjoyed this year," he said.

Guergis said after the meeting that with the county involved in a number of ongoing studies on governance that he felt that it was best that he run again as warden.

"So many things are going on that there is a need for continuity which has prompted me to run again," he said.

He said that he had discussed his decision again with his council in Springwater and they were supportive of his decision.

The election of county warden will be held in December. No other candidates have entered the race.
